Dear readers, advertisers, and friends of Dera Digest.
Two years ago, I set out with a simple ambition: to create a magazine that would allow information to flow freely and positively through our community, a platform that could connect people, businesses, stories, and ideas in a way that genuinely brought us closer together.
Today, as I write this final note as Publisher of Dera Digest, I do so with immense gratitude and pride.
What began as an idea with my wife Kate, has grown into something truly special.
Over the past two years, the magazine has become a trusted voice in our community and beyond, stretching not only across Marondera and into Harare and Mutare, but even reaching interested readers as far afield as Australia and New Zealand. That reach is not mine alone; it belongs to all of you who read it, supported it, advertised in it, and shared it.
From the beginning, I believed there is something timeless and nostalgic about a printed magazine. Ina fast-moving digital world, there is still something wonderfully personal about holding a publication in your hands, reading about familiar faces, local businesses, community milestones, and shared achievements. It creates connection. It creates belonging. And that has always been the heart of Dera Digest.
As I now step away from my role as Publisher, I do so confidently and with great excitement. I am officially handing the magazine over to three remarkable ladies who have worked alongside me and understand the spirit and purpose of this publication. I am giving it to them freely, no ties, no obligations, so that they can take it forward in their own way and allow it to grow even further.
I encourage our community and our valued advertisers to continue supporting Dera Digest wholeheartedly. Back them. Advertise with them. Contribute to them. Share your stories. This magazine has played an instrumental role in connecting our wider area, and with your continued support, it will only strengthen that role. To every reader, contributor, advertiser, supporter, and stakeholder, thank you. Your belief in this vision turned an ambition into a success story. Personally, it has been an incredibly rewarding journey, and one I will always be proud of.
The magazine now enters a new chapter, and I have no doubt it will flourish.
With sincere thanks and appreciation,
Sean Webster: Founder & Publisher (Outgoing)

Editor's Welcome
The more things change, the more they stay the same. As we move (swiftly, it seems to me!) into another new year, and into the Easter season, we find ourselves moved, motivated and inspired by much the same things that stirred us last year.
Easter is a time associated with hope, renewal, and new beginnings. Seasons change, the cycle of life continues, and yet we, as the Dera Digest team, remain committed to bringing our readers all the community news, updates and stories that are uniquely Marondera.
The Dera Digest team will continue doing what we have always done: asking questions, celebrating wins, documenting challenges, and ensuring that when someone years from now wants to know what mattered to Marondera in 2026, they will find it in these pages (and on our website, www.deradigest.com).
As the magazine continues to evolve and grow, so too does the community we serve. We will continue to document and share the changes within your community. Because that is the thing about constants: they are not about standing still. They are about knowing what matters and holding onto it with hope while everything else shifts around you.
Here’s to the year ahead.
