Dear Readers,

The tenth issue of Dera Digest has been a while in the making and reaches you a little later than we had hoped – but, as the saying goes, better late than never!

At the heart of Dera Digest is a simple idea: sharing. Sharing the people, stories, talents and initiatives that make Marondera such a special place to live.

One of the great privileges of producing this magazine is being able to amplify the voices of our community. Our cover story celebrates the creativity
of several young local artists – their imagination and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.

We are also delighted to share the story of the Marondera community coming together in support of Borradaile Trust Hospital. The generosity shown
at the recent fundraiser demonstrates what can be achieved when people unite behind something that matters. The funds raised will help support the continued development and modernisation of an important healthcare resource for our community.

This is particularly meaningful in an issue dedicated to cancer awareness. In “A Bright Candle of Hope,” Cancer Care Network Zimbabwe reminds us that

a cancer diagnosis is not necessarily the end. Early detection, appropriate treatment and, importantly, the support of family, healthcare professionals and
fellow survivors can help people find hope during and beyond treatment.

Elsewhere, we meet Angeline, whose oyster mushroom enterprise shows how innovation, determination and sharing knowledge can create opportunities for others too. We also highlight the Rotary Club’s work in promoting greener urban spaces and supporting those less fortunate.

Together, these stories reflect something we value deeply: a community is strengthened when people care, contribute and support one another.

Dera Digest exists because of the people who contribute their stories, photographs, ideas and support, and for that we are sincerely grateful. We are proud to be part of the Marondera community and hope this issue celebrates the people who continue to make it such a remarkable place.
